Lexar Unveils High-Capacity JumpDrive A50V and C50V USB Drives Tailored for Dashcams
Lexar has officially expanded its automotive-grade storage lineup with the launch of new 512GB and 1TB variants of the JumpDrive A50V and C50V. Specifically engineered for vehicle surveillance and dashcam use, these high-capacity drives aim to meet the growing demand for long-duration video recording in modern electric and connected vehicles.
Designed for the Road
The JumpDrive A50V and C50V are built to handle the rigorous demands of continuous 24/7 loop recording. According to Lexar, the 1TB model is capable of storing up to 96 hours of high-definition footage from a four-camera setup (notably compatible with systems like those found in Li Auto vehicles).
To ensure reliability in harsh environments, these drives are constructed with high-quality TLC NAND flash memory, allowing them to withstand high rewrite workloads. They are also designed to survive extreme cabin temperatures, with an operating range from -40°C to 75°C and storage tolerance up to 100°C.
Performance and Specifications
While the A50V utilizes a standard USB-A connector, the C50V features the more modern USB-C interface. Despite the different connectors, both drives share robust performance metrics:

Transfer Speeds: Up to 200MB/s read and write speeds.
Format: Pre-formatted in exFAT (supports conversion to FAT32 or NTFS).
Size: The A50V is the more compact of the two, weighing just 6.2 grams, while the C50V weighs 13.5 grams.
Smart Surveillance Integration
The drives are optimized for "Sentry Mode" and dashcam recording. They feature automatic overwriting, where the oldest footage is replaced by new data once the storage is full—a critical feature for maintaining a continuous security record without manual intervention. Lexar also confirmed that the drives have passed rigorous automotive-grade reliability testing and are plug-and-play compatible with various New Energy Vehicles (NEVs).
Pricing and Availability
The Lexar JumpDrive A50V and C50V have been launched initially in China, with pricing as follows:
512GB Model: 779 yuan (approx. $112 USD)
1TB Model: 1,419 yuan (approx. $205 USD)
Both models come with a one-year limited warranty and are currently available through Lexar’s official retail channels. Global availability and pricing have yet to be announced.
